NLIS Database forms

Using the NLIS database

If livestock are bought or sold through a saleyard, or sold to an abattoir, the saleyard or abattoir records the transfer on the database. If livestock are bought or sold privately, the person who receives the livestock must ensure that the transfer is recorded on the database within the timeframe specified by State or Territory regulations. NLIS Ltd encourages producers to open a database account so that they can record their livestock transfers electronically and run database reports to monitor their current holdings.

Producers

There are several ways to use the NLIS database:

  1. Create a free online account and record livestock transfer on the database yourself.
  2. Authorise a Third Party to access and record information on the database on your behalf. Download Form E (Third party authorisation) from the list below.
  3. Contact the NLIS Helpdesk on 1800 683 111 or support@integritysystems.com.au to request a Fee for Service Form A (Cattle) or Form M (Sheep and Goats). To save time, have your credit card handy if you want to pay by credit card. Alternatively, you can pay by cheque. Form A and Form M are used to notify the database of livestock movements to other properties.
  4. Complete the appropriate form:
    • Form B Notify database of breeding bulls on an EU property
    • Form C Notify database of damaged or lost used tags
    • Form D Notify database of the death of an animal
    • Form E Authorise Third party to access and record information
    • Form F Notify change of details

Saleyards / Abattoirs

Most saleyards and abattoirs use specialised software packages but they still need a free online account to interact with the NLIS database.

Abattoirs may use a free software package, NLISConnect, from NLIS Ltd. For more information about NLISConnect, email the NLIS Helpdesk at support@integritysystems.com.au
